HOW IT ALL BEGAN
MEET LAMARR
Ms. LaMarr R. Taylor is a force—equal parts powerhouse vocalist, passionate educator, and soulful storyteller. With an energy that commands every stage she steps onto, Taylor is redefining what it means to inspire through art. Whether she’s belting a Pat Benatar anthem, channeling the fire of Tina Turner, or echoing the soul of Aretha Franklin, LaMarr’s performances electrify audiences and leave hearts wide open.
For the past eight years, LaMarr has been the dynamic lead singer for Old School 203, a band celebrated for reviving the timeless sound and spirit of the ‘60s, ‘70s, and ‘80s. Her signature Motown-infused style, interactive stage presence, and undeniable charisma keep fans coming back for more—every show a new experience, every note a testament to her deep love for music.
But LaMarr’s artistry doesn’t stop at the mic. She’s also an accomplished actress, with standout performances in stage productions across the region. Her portrayal of Lena Younger (Mama) in A Raisin in the Sun at The Downtown Cabaret Theatre earned her a Best Actress nomination from BroadwayWorld.com—a recognition of her ability to breathe life, power, and truth into every character she plays.
A bestselling author, motivational speaker, and coach, LaMarr is driven by a higher calling: to uplift, empower, and ignite the spark of purpose in others. Her personal mission is rooted in guiding individuals toward self-acceptance, growth, and inner peace—the same journey she walks every day. As a longtime educator, she brings that same passion into the classroom, mentoring youth and women with wisdom, compassion, and authenticity.
LaMarr’s creative journey began in the church as a gospel singer, but her voice and vision have since evolved to touch a global audience. Trained at the New York Film Academy in Musical Theater, and a continual student of her craft, she blends technical mastery with raw emotion in everything she does.
At home in Connecticut, LaMarr finds her greatest joy as a wife to her husband, Morris, and mother to her beloved daughter, Ja’Rya, along with her two cherished bonus children. That nurturing, motherly energy is felt in her music, her message, and her mission—because for LaMarr R. Taylor, every performance is personal, and every audience is family.
